Children With A.D.H.D Information for Parents What parents need to know about A.D.D-A.D.H.D. When a child has Attention deficit disorder they have great difficulty in behaving appropriately as compared to other children of a similar age/sex. The A.D.D CHILD:
The A.D.H.D Child:
Children will have demonstrated the above from a very early age and they most demonstrate at least six of the above list of symptoms - sign's over a prolonged period of time. What can be done to help? In order that psychiatrists and doctors get a clear picture of the difficulties the child and family are going through, it is most important that parents keep diaries of the behavioral patterns of the child. It is also beneficial if other professionals such as
Or any one that is experiencing similar problems with your child, Keeps a record of the problems or incidents, you can always ask them to contact the doctor dealing with your child, and report the problems they are coming up against. MOST IMPORTANTLY DO NOT GIVE UP When doctors believe the parents are the problem. Many parents are told that the behavior of their child is due to their own lack of parental control, even in families where other children behave and conduct themselves appropriately. Parents are often told that they must change the way they deal with their child. Parenting a child with ADHD is far different then parenting a child of a similar age that does not have the condition. Unfortunately, there is not a test for A.D.H.D. it is a matter of elimination, ruling everything out and looking at all the possibilities; this can take a long time. What causes A.D.D / A.D.H.D? Despite popular opinion A.D.D / A.D.H.D is not caused by bad parenting or food and vitamin deficiencies, although certain foods can make management worse. It is the consensus that A.D.D /A.D.H.D is an inherited tendency toward dopamine depletion of under activity in those parts of the brain affecting.
The imbalance of several neurotransmitters (messages to the brain) that affect the frontal regions of the brain. This makes concentration, impulsively, and behavioral consequences difficult to control.
