A.D.H.D has been recognized and treated in children for many years Initially, it was thought that children or adolescents with A.D.H.D would "outgrow" the symptoms. However, we now know that a significant number of individuals take the disorder though to adulthood. Increasingly, adults are being diagnosed with ADHD, most of these adults have gone though life not knowing they suffer from a neurological disorder and in many cases have been diagnosed as having a mental illness.

Their ADHD was not picked in childhood and they have gone down many paths looking for answers to the many questions they have had around

Why they cannot seem to learn from their mistakes,

Why they keep forgetting appointments, birthdays or meetings with friends and family.

Why they keep going from one job to another

They very often feel discontent.

The most comman symptoms and signs of A.D.H.D

Inattention (distractibility)

Hyperactivity alternating with periods ofImpassivity or fatigue.

Poor short term memory

With an onset that began in childhood by adulthood undiagnosed / untreated ADHD has very often caused significant impairment in school at work and with social interaction. At one time or another everyone experiences difficultys concentrating on a task, fidgetiness, and impulsiveness. These occasional feelings and behaviors do not necessarily mean a person has A.D.H.D.

The differences between those with ADHD and those who do not have the disorder is the severity of the symptoms and a long history of difficulties that affects individuals throughout their life.

WHAT CAUSES A.D.H.D?

The exact causes of A.D.H.D are not known. However, there is a neurobiological basis for the disorder. A.D.H.D is believed to be the result of an imbalance or deficiency in chemicals or neurotransmitters in the brain.

Heredity is also considered to play a strong role, although the exact patterns of genetic transmission have not been established. It is important to understand that A.D.H.D is not due to
